Cylinder hazards were caused due to internal corrosion of the cylinder. Use of pressure retaining valves avoids internal contamination. Residual Pressure Retaining Valves (RPV) are of two types, the use of which depends upon the operation and the quality of gas required.

Type A – leaves a small residual pressure in the cylinder

Type B – leaves a small residual pressure and is incorporated with a non-return valve which prevents backflow into the cylinder cause due to pressure difference. Type B requires a special filling connector.

Uses of Residual Pressure Retaining Valves
